Ivan Alekseyevich Bunin (1870-1953)
Sending his study of A.K. Tolstoy for publication. 1949
Autograph postcard signed ('Iv. Bunin') to Mark Efimovich Weinbaum, 1 rue Jacques Offenbach, Paris, [postmarked 12 December 1949].

In Russian. One page, 102 x 149mm.

Sending his study of A.K. Tolstoy for publication. Bunin informs Weinbaum that on 22 or 23 December a friend will bring him the manuscript of Tretiy Tolostoy (The third Tolstoy) and he asks him to publish it in two editions of Novoye Russkoye Slovo.

Tretiy Tolostoy (The third Tolstoy) is a study of Aleksey Tolstoy (1883-1945). As Bunin drily commented in a letter at the time, it includes 'great praise for [the Comrade Count's] talent for writing and less for his everyday talent' [i.e. his personal character]. Mark Efimovich Weinbaum (1890-1973) was editor and co-owner of the influential New York-based journal Novoye Russkoye Slovo (New Russian Word).
