The image by B. Tchechousky, Moscow, 143 x 102mm, mount 166 x 105mm. Inscribed in Russian below the image and continued on verso.

A signed photograph. Sklifosovsky was a pioneering surgeon, and a leading proponent in the introducton of antiseptic practices in Russia, particularly in the years 1882-88 as the head of the medical faculty of Moscow University. He became an honorary member of the university in 1899, the year of this inscription.
