Autograph manuscript poem, 'On do sikh por trevozhit moi sny...' [published with the title 'Belgrade'], n.p., n.d. [1928].

In Russian. In blue and purple ink, five stanzas of four lines, a draft with cancellations and emendations including a variant line, on one leaf, 209 x 135mm.

O, eta pamyat' o nedavnikh dnyakh!
Kakaya v ney pechal'naya otrada!
Dym zolotoy za Savoy, na kholmakh,
I nezhnyy oblik milogo Belgrada.

Memories of Belgrade. An evocation of a memory which is both immediate and distant: 'There is no power to tell it impromptu ... / Those days are gone'.

Gippius and her husband Dmitry Merezhkovsky were in Belgrade in 1928 for the First Congress of Russian writers in exile; they subsequently received financial support from the Yugoslav government for several years.
