Born in Beijing in 1960, Chen Ping graduated from the Chinese Painting Department at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. As a contemporary landscape artist, Chen constructs an idealized world with simple and concentrated colours as well as intricate and firm brushstrokes. His landscapes, peaceful and tranquil, take after the ethereal utopia as recounted in Peach Blossom Spring Story, a famous Chinese fable from the Jin dynasty.
