SPECIALIST'S NOTES
Zhang Xiong (1803-1886), courtesy name Zixiang, sobriequet Yuanhu Waishi, was a native of Jiaxing, Zhejiang province. He was proficient in flower paintings, especially that of peony. Zhang was also good at landscape painting and seal carving, and had a sizable collection of paintings and calligraphy.
