Lot Essay

Guo Shangxian, who styled himself as Yuanwin, Lanshi, and Boliu, was a native of Putian, Fujian province, an Imperial Scholar during the Jiaxing reign and an academic. He was also a painter of orchids and bamboos, and a calligrapher whose craft resembled that of Ouyang Xun, but with greater strength.
