Lot Essay

Xie Chunping served as the reception manager of the Overseas Chinese Travel Service in the 1970s, mainly receiving overseas Chinese, and from Hong Kong and Macao. Because of his work, Xie contacted many well-known painters in China and befriended Wu Zuoren, Wang Xuetao, Huang Zhou, Bai Xueshi, Tang Yun, Li Xiongcai, Guan Shanyue and Wu Guanzhong. All the calligraphy and paintings in this collection were acquired directly from the artists. Two paintings by Huang Zhou from this collection are also available in Christie’s Fine Chinese Modern Paintings sale on 26 November 2019 (Lots 1285-1286).
