Lot Essay

Qi Junzao, who styled himself as Shuying, Chunfu, Chunpu, and Xiweng, was a native of Shouyang, Shanxi province. An Imperial Scholar during the Jiaxing reign, Qi was known as the “Tutor of Three Emperors”, namely Daoguang, Xianfeng, and Tongzhi. For over ten years, Qi contributed to the literary and calligraphy domains; hence, after Fu Shan, he was known as the most influential person in the history of Shanxi calligraphy in Qing Dynasty.
