Lot Essay

Rong Geng was a well-known scholar of ancient Chinese characters and an archaeologist in modern China. He had in-depth research on bronze script. In addition, Rong’s seal script calligraphy was held in high regard.

Wu Jingshan was taught by Pan Tianshou (1897-1971) and Lu Yanshao (1909-1993) when he was studying at China Academy of Art in the 1960s. He was not only an expert in painting landscapes, but he was also accomplished in painting flowers and birds. After returning to Guangzhou, he had a good relationship with Rong Geng, who taught at Sun Yat-Sen University.
