Lot Essay
The recipient of this album is the Lieutenant-General in the Imperial Japanese Army Nishikawa Torajiro (1867-1944) who was the Chief of Staff in the Kanto Governor-general from November 1914. General Nishikawa was born in Fukuoka. He stationed in China twice in 1900 and then participated in the Russo-Japanese War. During his tenure as Chief of Staff, he supported the policy of the second Okuma Caninet against the monarchy by Yuan Shikai (1859-1916) and colonizing Manchuria. This album includes many calligraphic works, which were created by important participants of the Manchurian independence movement, the warlords of Fengtian Clique, and the officials of Manchukuo. It reveals the Sino-Japanese relationship of the early 20th century.

The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture. -There are multiple scraches on the cover, especially at the four edges; -There are a few water stains, mould spots, ink marks on each leaves; -It is in our opinion that the album is in overall very good condition.
