Lot Essay

Wang Mengbai, who styled himself as Yun, Host of Pozhai, and Sandaoren, was a native of Yinzhou, Zhejiang province. He enjoyed painting flowers as well as feathers, and was good at painting monkeys. Wang imitated the style of Ren Yi and was under the guidance of Wu Changshuo; he was also recommended by Chen Shizeng for a teaching position at the Beijing Academy of Fine Arts.
