Madame Li Shuming resided in the United States and participated in the Overseas Chinese Artists Exhibition held by the National History Museum in 1979. She was a student of Zhao Shao’ang. Zhao stayed in the United States for one year in 1960 and was in New York in August and September. During that time, he painted numerous paintings for Madame Li.
