Lot Essay

A native of Nanhai, Guangdong province, Zhao Ziyong, styled as Mingshan, was a prominent writer in Qing dynasty. Throughout his life, he spent much time observing and delineating the bamboo in his hometown’s bamboo forests. Zhao was also known for his crab, figure, orchid, and butterfly paintings too.
