QIAN DU (1763-1844)
Rock and Flowers in Line Drawing
Hanging scroll, ink on silk
102.2 x 25.4 cm. (40 1/4 x 10 in.)
Inscribed with a poem and signed, with two seals of the artist

Specialist Note:
Qian Du draw the painting with the bai miao (fine-line drawing), a well-known technique by the Northern Song painting Li Gonglin. The description of bamboo, stone, and iris leaning next to the stone, with the seven-character poem, created an elegant and classical mood to the work.
