The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
Dish:
- a few small areas of kiln grit adhesion, pin prick holes and burst glaze bubbles to the interior and the base
- a shallow surface chip to the base
- chips and polishing to all feet
- light surface scratches, consistent with age and use
Bowl:
- a rim chip with associated hairline
- chips and nicks to mouth rim, some with associated polishing
- rubbing to the gilt decoration
- surface abrasion, particularly to the rim and edges on the interior
- burst glaze bubbles to the interior and the base
- nicks to foot rim
- '3793' is inscribed twice in black enamel on the base
