A BRONZE RITUAL TRIPOD WINE VESSEL, JUE
LATE SHANG DYNASTY, 12TH-11TH CENTURY BC
The vessel is raised on three blade-form supports and is cast in relief on the deep sides with two taotie masks reserved on a leiwen band, one separated by a flange, and the other by two characters, Fu Ji (Father Ji) cast under the handle. The bronze has a dark reddish-brown patina with some malachite encrustation.
