The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
- the brush pot appears to be unfinished
- a section near the base has been restuck with an associated chip
- another section near the mouth has been restuck
- natural inclusions and fissures in the stone
- a few opaque small white bruises
- the center of the base has an unpolished area and has been drilled and is now with a cork plug
- expected minute nicks and areas of polish to the edges and extremities
- illegible numbers written in red, and another number 2659 written in yellow are on the base
- a Butterfield & Butterfield sticker on the base
