Lot Essay

Moderately toned and soiled official National League baseball signed by the four umpires from the 1921 World Series played between the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. Signatures include George Moriarity, Cy Rigler, Ollie Chill, and Ernest Quigley (Pro Basketball Hall of Fame member). Signatures range from 6 to 8 out of 10. The ball itself presents with evident use and handling wear including a few surface scuffs with general areas of soiling. Given that the offered baseball originates from the personal collection of umpire George Moriarity and its evident use we feel very confident in its attribution as having been used in the 1921 World Series. Unique and desirable artifact with relation to the New York Yankees' first World Championship with Babe Ruth. Includes full LOAs from PSA/DNA and JSA in addition to a corroborative invoice from 2002 auction with Moriarity Collection baseballs: Ball: VG, Signatures: Range EX-EX/MT
