John Dee (1527-1609) was a mathematician, astronomer, alchemist and philosopher and was advisor to Queen Elizabeth I, who called him 'my philospher'. Dee was also involved in astrology, magic and the occult. He even forecast Elizabeth I's reign based on her coronation date. She beleived in these magical powers and he was a trusted counsellor.

The painted surface refreshed. The box later with several small cracks to the rim and one slightly larger crack on the right side. The glass cover removeable. Overall good condition.
