Lot Essay

This collection of paintings by renowned artists of the Lingnan School was gathered with great affection and attention by a single family of artists originally from southern China. Over the years, they befriended and studied under some of these teachers. As a young child in Hong Kong, the current owner learned under Zhao Shao'ang, whom he treasures as his idol and mentor to this day. He inherited this collection from his mother and father, whose names were inscribed in some of the paintings by the artists themselves. This collection represents the brilliant talents of these artists depicting the beauty and sensitivity of the world we live in and provided this family with decades of pride and memories.
