Very large woodblock wall map of China mounted as four hanging scrolls on silk.

Large woodblock map of China, on paper, composed of four strips, each backed with brown paper and mounted as a hanging scroll with ivory silk borders, wooden roller with the ends covered by cloth decorated with five bats and the character shou (longevity). Overall size of map approximately 1685 x 3200 mm or 5 1/2 by 10 1/2 feet. The scroll widths very somewhat but are all mounted to a length of 2330 mm. The map is with a printed frame of rectangular pattern, two pieces of inscriptions and the title cartouche with the seal of the cartographer at the bottom area of scroll one (right-hand side). China’s provincial boundaries are highlighted with thick ink lines, administrative division and geographical features on lands are set in a ground of meridian and parallel lines, the seas are delineated with contour lines, water routes annotated with of distance mileage. Texts printed in Chinese. (Browned, staining throughout the front and back surfaces, some careful repairs, red circles around some place names; most of title lost; manuscript facsimile restorations done to the upper section of every scroll, some water-stains.)
