Limited edition. With a fine original watercolor by George Barbier bound in, signed and dated "G. Barbier 1922" in upper right, 165 x 137mm. It depicts an iconic 1920s woman—complete with a knee-length strand of pearls, feathered head-wrap and feather fan—posing in a trellised rose garden. The edition is a beautiful collaboration between Schmied and Barbier. No. 141 of 150 copies.

Quarto (247 x 195mm). Illustrated by Barbier with wood-engravings colored in pochoir, being full-page plates, initials, head- and tail-pieces and other decorations. Original watercolor drawing by Barbier bound in at front. Full crushed morocco by Georges Cretté, spine gilt, calf doublures and flyleaves, flyleaves lined with decorated paper; original wrappers bound in; morocco-edged slipcase (light sunning to volume spine, slipcase rubbed).
