Details
BLEULAND, Jan (1756-1838). Icon tunicae villosae intestini duodone, justa felicem vasculorum impletionem. Utrecht: B. Wild and J. Altheer, 1789.

First edition of Bleuland’s histological investigation of duodenal tissue. In it, his pioneering method of tissue fixing and dyeing is illustrated by a remarkable color-printed plate. Anatomie de la couleur 124; Blake p 50; not in Waller or Wellcome.

Quarto (260 x 208mm). One color-printed plate. Original glazed speckled wrapper (some tears and chips, one repaired with tape). Provenance: René Ledoux-Lebard, 1879-1948, physician and scholar of the history of color engraving (monogram stamp).
