Inscribed by MLK to Sammy Davis Jr. on the front blank endpaper: "To my Dear Friend Sammy Davis [Jr.] Whose Friendship I Cherish very deeply Martin Luther King". Davis was part of a cadre of Hollywood entertainers that spoke out on behalf of King and the civil rights movement—often volunteering to appear at fundraising concerts.
