First edition of Keats's last and finest volume of poetry, uncut and finely bound. Published in July 1820, when Keats was seriously ill and soon to depart for Italy, it includes poems such as his "Ode to a Nightingale," "Ode on a Grecian Urn" and "To Autumn," that would help cement his reputation as one of the greatest English poets. 12mo (174 x 100mm). Uncut. Half-title, advertisement leaf, and fly-titles preceding each section. (p.137-8 with tear at top corner, not affecting text; front doublure/endpaper with short closed tear at margin and abrasion to verso from removed bookplate.) Full morocco gilt by Zaehnsdorf c.1916, inner dentelles, silk doublures (hint of rubbing to foot of spine and long upper joint). Provenance: bookplate with Aubrey Beardsley illustration of a woman reading and initial "C" loosely inserted.
