20 parts in 19, octavo (222 x 143mm). Half-title, most advertisements as in Hatton and Cleaver, 14-line errata, 40 etched plates by “Phiz” [H.K. Browne] including frontispiece and additional title (lacking “Neatly bound in cloth” slip in part 7, “Chuzzlewit Advertiser” present in all parts but sometimes wanting leaves, lacking some back advertisements). Original blue-green pictorial wrappers (edge-wear and occasional chips to wrappers, some repaired, backstrips renewed, occasional ownership inscriptions or internal institutional stamps, back wrappers frequently variant or supplied). Custom half morocco box and chemise (split upper board).
