Wanguo tu [World Map] & Wukou Yanhai Shuilu Quantu [Complete Map of Waterways of Five Coastal Estuaries]. China, Kangxi period, 1687.

Manuscript map of China’s east coast, and world map, ink and color on paper, approximately 295 x 6800 mm, that is about 22 feet in length, mounted as a handscroll with silk inner wrappings on both ends, a title strip on the exterior reading Haikou Quantu (Complete Map of Sea Ports) and empty pink mica-flecked frontispiece, roller, housed in a wooden box. Title before each map, text in Chinese, some modern English annotation written in pencil. Seas colored in pale green. Three seals of the map production supervisor along the upper edge. (Inner wrapping and frontispiece are detached, light staining and creasing, some tears along the margins, orange paper borders slightly chipping.)
