A finely bound set of first editions of the novels, except for Mansfield Park, which is the second edition. Jane Austen's six novels are known for their brilliant wit and social commentary, and romantic entanglements among the English gentry of the early 19th century. (Occasional repairs, with a couple touching a few words; Sense & Sensibility with facsimile half-titles and title page with margin extended; Pride & Prejudice vol. 3 half-title supplied from 2nd edition; Mansfield Park with facsimile first edition half-titles and titles; Emma vols 1 & 2 with facsimile half-titles matching vol. 3.) Uniformly bound by Zaehnsdorf, all edges gilt (rebacked, with original spines laid down; a couple endpapers detached). Provenance: faded ownership inscription to vols 1 & 3 of Sense & Sensibility.
