MILNE, A.A. (1882-1956). Pooh Goes Visiting in Story-Folk. London: Methuen, D.P. Bent, [1931].

Scarce, original toy edition. Accompanying the story book are seven color cut-out figures of Winnie-the-Pooh (both before and after Honey), Christopher Robin, Rabbit, Piglet, Rabbit's Friends and Relations, and The Hole. Two scenes, “Rabbit’s Hall under the ground” and “The Wood Near Rabbit’s Hole,” complete the stage. Included with the story, set, and characters is a “How-To” guide pasted to the inside of the box’s upper lid. The instructions encourage participation by children of all ages, and states that Parents can “get useful information as to the hidden nature of children” by the characters they choose to play. Pooh Goes Visiting is one of five in The Story-Folk Series, which aims to help all, “from Tiny Tots to boys and girls, to spend a winter's evening, a rainy afternoon or a convalescent period cheerfully.”

Octavo (189 x 140mm). Half-title. Original blue wrappers, pictorial box, and cloth slipcase containing 7 color cut-out figures, two color scenes, and stands (worn, only 4 stands present, most figures are rather chipped and bumped with The Hole, Piglet, Edward Bear and Christopher Robin repaired, the box and slipcase are both chipped with some edge repairs).
