Limited edition, one of only 100 copies. A beautifully colored book showing the signs used by Chinese shopkeepers to advertise their trade. They are colored in gold, silver and colors. Each sign is accompanied by a description in English and Chinese. Brown paper title slip with white borders on the front cover, reading Yandu Shangbang Tu.

Oblong quarto (245 x 365 mm). Title page, preface and table of contents. (A little pale foxing.) 18 leaves incorporating 101 hand-colored illustrations. Original cloth-backed brocade boards, tied with black ropes (title slip and edges slightly chipped, some soiling on the covers).
