NAPOLEON I (1769-1822). Endorsement signed ("Bonaparte"), [Cairo,] 14 messidor an 7 [28 June 1799] on a letter from the Divan of Egypt to Napoleon, Cairo, 12 messidor an 7 [30 June 1799].

In Arabic and translated to French. One page, 347 x 230mm (creases, corners and seal tear losses infilled, mild dustsoiling).

During the Egyptian Campaigns, Napoleon requests the records of an interrogation of a man by the name of "Muustapha" who had been arrested for violating passport regulations while he was visiting his daughter in Upper Egypt. The Divan stresses that the man was ignorant of the regulations and sought his release. [With:] Letter signed by an aide, [n.p., n.d.]. In French, 2 pages. An account of the interrogation.
