Sir George Walter Prothero (1848-1922) was an English writer and academic who served as the president of the Royal Historical Society from 1901-05. Mary Frances Prothero was a member of the Cambridge Ladies Dining Society, a group of supporters for women's suffrage who were also active in the campaign to grant women Cambridge degrees (the campaign would finally find success in 1948).
