Isaac Newton summons a witness in a counterfeiting case. Newton, the Master of the Royal Mint, issues a summons to John Fenton Kistell, a coffeman in St. Margaret's Parish, Westminster to testify what he knows about Samuel Tibbs "counterfeiting … current Coyn of this Realm…." In December of the same year, Newton would become Master of the Mint, a post he held until his death in 1727.
