EARHART, Amelia (1897- 1939) . A typed letter signed ("Amelia Earhart") to Margaret Bourke-White, New York, 31 August 1933.

One page, 265 x 184 mm, on Amelia Earhart letterhead, (light original mailing folds, minor adhesive remnants on verso).

Thanking Margaret Bourke-White for a gift of her photograph of the George Washington Bridge. Earhart, who had been out of town, writes of her joy in discovering "your gift of the beautiful span," upon her return. "I think you have caught the spirit, or what should be the sprit, of the Washington Bridge subtly and exactly. Thank you for sending it—as an example of photographic art, and also, as a demonstration of what ability lurks within women." A superb association of two of the most prominent women of the 1930s.
