Xigucheng Tu [Map of Xigu Town. China, Qing dynasty, 1644-1912].

Manuscript map of the town of Xigu in Hebei province. A very handsome and colorful map of this settlement, set amongst fir trees and mountains.

Manuscript map of Xigu Town, Hebei Province, ink and color on rice paper, approximately 470 x 685 mm, folded to 245 x 120 mm. Title and place names written on red pasted labels, texts in Chinese; a large official seal is stamped below the title strip. Routes represented by red dotted lines; the map is divided into upper and lower halves by the meandering White Dragon River crossing the paper horizontally; the section below the river is painted upside down. The verso of green ground, the front cover is the leaf on top when folded, red title strip pasted in the middle, with a large official seal with seal scripts stamped at the bottom. (A few small holes, mostly along folds, some sunning to both sides, some other minor fold wear).
