On the "Arrival of Muskets." A letter that opens with a request on behalf of "a Friend for sundry Garden Seeds," including "Onions Carrots & Pumpkin but particularly Squash seed." He concludes noting that there was "no News at present worth repeating," assuming Colonel Glen had already "heard of the Arrival of Muskets &ca to the Eastward & [Nor]thward to the Tune of above 20.000." On 1 April 1777, Robert Morris reported to John Jay that news had arrived of two arms deliveries: the first in Maryland arriving aboard a French brig laden with 6,800 muskets, 2100 gun locks and over 600 barrels of gunpowder; another ship came to Portsmouth, New Hampshire with 12,000 muskets and 1,000 barrels of gunpowder.
