HORAE, use of Rome, in Latin and French. Paris: Thielman Kerver for Gilles Remacle, 5 January 1503.

Printed on vellum. This book of hours contains Kerver's full set of "small" full-page metalcuts attributed to the Master of the Apocalypse Rose, including the newest and last addition, Maria Immaculata. There is a very similar Kerver Horae dated 10 January 1503 which is more frequently seen at auction. Bohatta 754. See Tenschert-Nettekoven Horae 36 for the 10 January edition.

Octavo (181 x 120mm). 95 leaves (of 96, lacking D1). Printed on vellum. With illuminated initials on blue or red grounds and yellow capital strokes. Large printer's device on title, metalcut anatomical man, 18 large metalcuts from the Master of the Apocalypse Rose, 36 small metalcuts, full multi-part historiated and ornamental border to each page (a few light stains and fading, small hole in title). 19th-century morocco by Chambolle-Duru, tooled in blind to a Renaissance design, vellum flyleaves, gilt edges (wear at extremities, headcap chipped).
