Samuel Johnson's first appearance in print. His contribution to Husbands' volume was a Latin translation of Pope's "Messiah." Courtney & Smith p.1, Fleeman 31.10H/1.

Octavo (203 x 130mm). Contemporary calf, red gilt-lettered spine label (rebacked with original spine laid down). Provenance: Mary Sheldon (ownership inscription dated 1745 to fly-leaf) – Margaret Rede (ownership inscription to title page).
