First edition, first state, and inscribed by the author with a poem: “With an extra poem and a few preference marks thrown in for good measure. Robert Frost / Franconia May 1919.” Frost has added check marks to several poems in the table of contents, including “The Road Not Taken” and “The Sound of the Trees.” He has additionally added to the contents “Locked Out,” noting it is on page 100 – there he has added the poem in manuscript. The present copy is the first state with “You’re further under in the snow—that’s all—” on p. 88 and “When I told her ‘Come’” on page 93. Crane A4.

Octavo. Half title. Original blue linen cloth stamped in gilt (a little rubbing at head of spine).
