FRENCH REVOLUTION – Collection Complète des Tableaux Historiques de la Révolution Française. Paris: chez Auber, 1804.

Important and massive pictorial history of the French Revolution; the most complete graphic record of events. The engravings depict events from the Assembly of Notables at Versailles in February 1787, through the Revolution itself all the way up to the coup of 18 Brumaire in which Napoleon overthrew the Directory. The third volume frontispiece depicts the Rights of Man after Fragonard.

Three volumes, folio (472 x 320mm.). Without half titles. Three engraved frontispieces, 153 engraved views, and 66 engraved portraits; mostly by Dupless-Bertaux. (Very occasional spotting.) Later half calf (scuffed, corners showing). Provenance: T.F.C. Mainwaring (armorial bookplate).
