First edition. The first publication in book form of James's iconic ghost story The Turn of the Screw as well as his Covering End. The Turn of the Screw was first published in Collier's Weekly and revised slightly for book publication, and Covering End was first published in this edition. One of 1,500 copies. Edel & Laurence A52.

Octavo (191 x 127mm). Title printed in red and black, 32-page publisher's catalogue bound in at the end. Original light blue cloth, lettered in gilt, upper board with irises blind (some minor rubbing).
