LINDBERGH, Charles Augustus (1902-1974). The Spirit of St. Louis. New York: Charles Scriber's Sons, 1953.

An inscribed copy of Lindbergh's biographical account of his historic solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean in 1927. His presentation reads: "To Sherman M. Fairchild, with best wishes and in memory of early days, Charles A. Lindbergh, 1953." Fairchild (1896-1971) was an American businessman, investor, and the founder of the Fairchild Aviation Corporation in 1925. He was inducted into the National Aviation Hall of Fame in 1979.

Octavo. 8 leaves of black-and-white photographic prints. Original publisher's cloth, endpapers reproducing aquatint by Burnell Poole (a little sunned on spine and edges of boards, text on spine partially worn away). Provenance: Sherman Mills Fairchild (presentation inscription).
