This is a lusciously rich wine.1942 - Famously known for a very difficult year of production due to the war - 1942 produced a very good vintage. On the nose, the wine offers a fragrant bouquet that keeps offering delightful aromas upon each consumption. Hints of toffee, this is a deliciously sweet wine.1943 - Perhaps the the best production of d'Yquem during wartime, the 1943 vintage offers richness and good length on the palate. Notable aromas of orange peel and violets.1944 - The 1944 vintage offers a honeyed aroma, with distinct flavours of orange blossom. The wine is very attractive, good length and a dry finish. Noted to be a good vintage.1946 - A notably long harvest, starting in early September and extending through until mid-November. 1946 is an extremely rare vintage that presents aromas of caramel, toffee and candied fruits on the nose.1947 - An outstanding vintage of d'Yquem. Superbly ripe, rich and incomparable to previous vintages. Harmonious and delectable, this wine is everything that d'Yquem should be and more!1948 - Harvest began in late September and ran through into mid-November. Butterscotch is the outstanding tasting note on this wine. 1948 is a good vintage that is both crisp and high in acidity.1949 - A superbly brilliant vintage; abundantly floral with aromas of orange blossom. Charming and elegant.1950 - Floral on the nose, this wine presents all of the characteristics of a classic production of d'Yquem. Lean with delicious flavour.1953 - A rather late vintage compared to previous years, 1953 is a very good vintage at Château d'Yquem. Noted to be a wine of perfect harmony and balance.1954 - The 1954 vintage is marked with notable aromas of vanilla, caramel and citrus delights.1955 - Outstanding in every way; a perfect growing season, leading to a perfect harvest and the creation of a delectable wine. Intensely rich on the nose, long after taste and perfect acidity. 1955 is one of the greatest vintages of the decade.1956 - A late harvest and late picking enabled the creation of a deeply amber coloured wine. Fragrant on the nose, sweet and lean.1957 - A harvest that preserved excellent concentration into the grapes, enabling the creation of a wonderfully decadent bottle of wine. High sugar levels led to the formation of a deliciously complex wine.1958 - Wonderfully rich and exuberant, the 1958 vintage is reminiscent of what a wonderfully classic Sauternes tastes like.1959 - A truly remarkable vintage that offers aromas of orange-peel, stoned fruits, peach and apricot. Fragrant on the nose; this wine has great depth, sweetness and acidity.
