This has enabled the production of a caramel rich wine, with aromas and flavours of raisin, stoned fruits and citrus. A delectably elegant and richly concentrated bottle of Sauternes.1962 - Unlike the 1961 vintage, harvest for 1962 did not commence until early October. The longer hangtime for the grapes enabled the production of intensely rich and concentrated grapes; this enabled the creation of a superbly elegant wine.1963 - Classic in style, powerful on the nose; the 1963 vintage offers a distinctive aroma of orange and Tarte Tatin. Lusciously sweet in flavour.1965 - Toffee, caramel and apricot - the 1965 vintage of d'Yquem is beautifully fragrant on the nose.1966 - A very good vintage for d'Yquem. All of the desired characteristics of d'Yquem are presented in this bottle, caramel and barley sugar. Distinctively delicious.1967 - There is a reason why Château d'Yquem has been heralded with the title of Premier Cru Supérieur ; consistently very good and in the best years, simply sublime . Arguably, the 1967 vintage of Château d'Yquem is the best of the 1960s. This vintage was the first of the major vintages under the production of Alexandre de Lur-Saluces . On the nose this wine has all the aromas of a deliciously fragrant bouquet, long lasting on the palate and beautifully rich.1968 - 1968 saw the death of proprietor Marquis Bernard de Lur-Saluces. In turn, Comte Alexandre de Lur-Saluces is heralded with running the Château. The 1968 vintage is well rounded and displays the essential characteristics desired from this winery, caramel and balanced acidity.1969 - 1969 saw a relatively small production of d'Yquem produced. Poor weather in the lead up to harvest led to only the very best grapes being used to create this vintage.1970 - A very good harvest year where over 75% of the crop was able to be used to create a wonderful bottle of d'Yquem. Rich and balanced on the nose, this wine presents caramel and toffee on the palate. Wonderfully magical and delicious.1971 - The three essential components for the creation of a wonderful Sauternes came into conjunction in 1971; sun, ideal ripening conditions and botrytis. Despite these excellent conditions, only 5 hl/ha of wine was produced. The 1971 vintage is a harmony of richness and vivaciousness, presenting a bouquet of honeyed botrytis. Perfectly balanced with the right amount of acidity.1973 - 1973 saw a vintage with extremely varied weather conditions. Despite this, an elegant wine was produced by d'Yquem. Fragrant on the nose and powerful on the palate.1975 - A truly remarkable vintage, a wonderful growing season… a perfect wine! Rich, balanced and distinctive length on the palate. This is a mouthwateringly delicious wine. Honey, orange blossom and toffee, a remarkable vintage for white Bordeaux wines. 1975 d'Yquem presents a balanced wine with purity and power.1976 - Noble rot, noble rot, noble rot - these were the words whispered throughout 1976. Onset of botrytis was swift in the September, leading to a quick harvest. On the palate this wine presents flavours of apricot, crème brûlée and caramel. Full bodied and rich - highly delicious.1977 - Different in style to the usual d'Yquem. The 1977 vintage saw a relatively small yield of crop produced, with only 30% of grapes used to produce Château d'Yquem. The wine is fragrant and complex.1978 - A difficult growing season where coulure was prominent across the whole vineyard. This led to only 20% of the crop being used. Only the very best grapes were used to produce a fantastic wine. 60,000 bottles were made in 1978. Upon drinking the wine presents aromas of orange, peach and pineapple. With ageing characteristics of toffee and caramel are prominent.1979 - Picking began in mid-September and extended all the way through until late November. A classic bottle of d'Yquem that offers aromas of barley-sugar, caramel and orange peel.1980 - An unusually late harvest, starting in October and extending all the way through until late November. Good sugar levels within the grapes enabled the creation of a very good wine. Aromas of mint, quince, fig and orange blossom - this is a beautiful wine.1981 - Uncharacteristically d'Yquem, the 1981 vintage is curiously delicious. It presents aromas of spice, macaroon and pineapple.1982 - An extremely small production of wine occurred in 1982. Nonetheless, 1982 offered the opportunity for d'Yquem to produce a good wine, and as such, they did! The blending of 80% Sémillon and 20% Sauvignon Blanc has enabled the creation of a spectacular wine that has refreshing acidity, balance and a rich creaminess on the nose.1983 - A truly prolific vintage, perhaps one of the greatest in the history of d'Yquem. Ideal growing conditions, followed by misty mornings in early September enabled the glorious noble rot to form. Notably offering a plethora of aromas and tastes, 1983 is a fantastic year for d'Yquem.1984 - 1984 saw the harvest of a small crop, but the creation of a wonderful wine. A substantial Sauternes with notes of caramel and toffee.1985 - 'The miracle vintage' - an extremely late harvest, extending all the way through until the middle of December, this a truly remarkable creation. The best of the d'Yquems to be produced in the early part of the 1980s, and one that will no doubt be remembered in the history books as a great vintage. Good acidity, well balanced and long lasting on the palate.1986 - A long Indian Summer blessed this vintage, followed by blankets of heavy fog. This created a well balanced vintage. Fragrant on the nose with aromas of floral bouquets; this wine has good acidity and complexity.1987 - Meticulous grape selection and rigorous sorting were essential in the production of the 1987 vintage. This is a wine that is fragrantly delicious.1988 - Another of the exceptional 1980s vintages. 1988 is a wonderfully spectacular bottle of d'Yquem. A long warm summer allowed the grapes to ripen evenly, creating high sugar and acidity levels. This bottle offers everything that you would expect from d'Yquem - pure excellence.1989 - A warm summer enabled the grapes to be fully ripe and to have good acidity levels. A unique flavour profile that is reminiscent of 1929, 1947 and 1949. A fantastic wine, that will stand the test of time.1990 - The third of the wonderful trio of Sauternes produced in the late 80s. 1990 is a truly magnificent vintage, sublime in every respect. 1990 was a fantastic vintage for all producers in this region. Caramel, sweet, velvety rich - a wonderful wine! 27 Bottles (75cl) per lot
