To celebrate the 40^th anniversary of Spottswoode’s sought-after Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, we are delighted to offer a complete vertical lot of all 40 vintages ever produced from the Novak family’s private cellar, spanning 1982-2021.

Situated on the western edge of St. Helena at the foot of the Mayacamas Mountains, the 45-acre Spottswoode Estate was established in 1882. Since 1972, the Novak family, starting with founder Mary Novak and now continued by two of her daughters, Beth and Lindy Novak, has nurtured Spottswoode into one of the world’s greenest and most esteemed wineries. The estate has been organically farmed since 1985 and embraced biodynamic practices in 2008. It added Regenerative Organic Certification in 2022 and continues to lead as passionate stewards of the environment.

This remarkable lot includes one 750mL bottle of all 40 vintages, allowing bidders to experience the evolution of this wine since inception through four decades. Each bottle has been stored in pristine condition in the Novak family cellar since being bottled at the winery. With only a handful of bottles remaining from many vintages, this never-before-offered collection is a rare opportunity to acquire a complete vertical of one of America’s most iconic Cabernet Sauvignons.

In addition to the 40-bottle vertical, the winning bidder will receive an invitation to attend Spottswoode’s Annual Vertical Tasting, taking place on Monday, November 10 at 9:30 a.m. at the historic estate in St. Helena, California. This marks the first time the event will be open to a member of the public. Hosted by Beth Novak, President & CEO, and Winemaker Aron Weinkauf, the morning will feature a comprehensive blind tasting of the past 20 vintages of Spottswoode’s Estate Cabernet Sauvignon (2004–2023). The tasting will be followed by an informal lunch with the Spottswoode team.

All proceeds from the sale of this lot will be donated by Novak Family to Napa Green, a notable leader in setting the highest standard for sustainability and climate action in the wine industry.
