Dow's, Vintage Port 1960
Ex Christie's September 2016. Damaged wax capsules. One bottle with signs of old seepage. Two rewaxed bottles. Badly bin-soiled labels. One damaged label. Levels: two top-shoulder, three upper-shoulder and three mid-shoulder
In the Symington tasting room. Clear orange red color. Sweet seductive fresh nose, showing some age only now. Dried raisiny aromas over spicy garrique and leather tones. Touch balsamic. The nose reminded me of well matured high-quality claret. Love this.
Quite sweet attack of taste, especially for Dow which tends to be a fraction drier than other ports. Mouth-filling rich smooth structure, suave silky mid palette. Focused. On the finish some ripened alcohol, in balance with a softly styled texture. Good length.
A well-defined vintage port of elegance and undeniable charm. Love this 1960. 94p Last tasted July 2017. EV
