Henriques & Henriques, Malmsey Founder's Solera Madeira 1894
Bin-soiled label. Level: base of neck
Tasting note: In 2013 at the lodge. Backward refined nose, finely sweet. Spicy and subtle. The nose grabs your attention offering different layers of aromas with every smell.
Intense, mouth filling taste, touch of Malt Whisky. Nice length, touch of syrup, ending with fresh acidity to balance it all out. Typical of a great Madeira.
Seven years later. Deep darker flavours of dried fruits and honey cake. An explosion of richness (161gr residual sugar). Very intense, luscious. Seductively sweet fruit bomb. Impressive.
In 2021 from a newly opened bottle, double decanted. Expressive red fruits on the nose, after this there is a lot going on. Honey cake, floral. deep.
On the taste focused sugar molasses, very refined well-balanced taste, great intensity and concentration of fruits, with a superb lingering acidity. Absolute quality of fruits. lots of strength and energy in this wine with a beautiful taste profile. Great wine. 100p. Edwin Vos
