Jardim do Mar, Sercial Madeira 1870
Ex Christie's March 2017. One damaged wax capsule. Slightly bin-soiled parchment labels. Levels: into-neck
Believed from Francisco Joao de Vasconcellos.
Tasting note: Intense high-toned nose with creme brulee and floral aromas. Nicely opening up after some time in the glass. Straw. At first smell the wine appeared a bit tired. Etheral. Focused start of taste, fine, butter scotch but dry aromas in the mouth. Nice canteiro aged acidity on the finish. Very nice Sercial. Classic a bit rough with longue lingering taste. Strikingly butterscotch on the flavor. After half an hour more inviting nose of firestone, salty even, high toned still. Smokey tones. Fresh acidity. Getter better with time in the glass. Most recently. Fudges, more temperate style. Good quality Sercial. In line with previous notes. 95p Last tasted January 2020.
