Warre's, Vintage Port 1960
Ex Christie's March 2017. Two bottles with signs of old seepage. Bin-soiled labels. Levels: two base of neck, three top-shoulder and four mid-shoulder
Tasting note: Smoky aroma of bacon on the first nose, followed by dried fruits. Fairly elegant and not overly expressive. Pure and fine, well-aged.
Lovely fine medium sweet taste, seductive Warre elegance. Great wine. Big potential still. To buy, keep and drink. In May 2014 in a comparative a personal favorite in this flight of 66 Warre and 63 Warre/Fonseca.
From the same lot, now half a year later. After a disappointing Noval 1955 the Warre 1960 delivered as hoped; a true great vintage port. Fine ripe black fruit still, not showing much development. Leathery soft fine nose. Good potential style.
Soft mouth feel, very well balanced still with reserve to age. All there in elegant soft great form. Lovely wine. 97p. October 2014. EV
