Welsh Bual Barbosa Circa 1820
Ex Christie's March 2017. Aged in wood for around 65 years, in demi-johns for around 50 years and bottled in March 1935. Wax capsule. Stained and bin-soiled label. Level: into-neck

In demi johns for 50 years. Bottled May 1930.
Tasting note: Intense rich nose, high toned, straw notes, touch of fudge like aromas. Very concentrated from extended cask aging. Furniture wax and tobacco.
Unctuous rich mouth feel, high extract, very concentrated with intense wood tones and high acidity. More in Sercial style finish then like a Bual. A big strong wine from very long canteiro aging. Like the Sercial 1840 this is verging on the overconcentration. 89p.
Tasted at Quinta das Vinhas with the Welsh family. January 2020. Edwin Vos
